How the Spool Pool works
Step 1
Each month, DipStakes selects a number of cars being sold at auction.
Think cars like: Honda S2000, Porsche 911 and Mazda MX5
Step 2
You predict the value of the cars. You only need to predict the values to the nearest bid increment, so you don't need to guess the value of a vehicle to the nearest penny. For example, bids over £10,000 are often in £250 increments.
There are two options per month: £5 (two sets of predictions) or £10 (three sets of predictions).
Step 3
If you are right, you win the Spool Pool jackpot. Go you.
If multiple people are correct, the prize pot is shared.

Frequently asked questions
How many cars do I have to predict the value of?
When the Spool Pool launches, you will need to predict the value of 4 vehicles. Due to the nature of auctions, sometimes a car sells before an auction goes live. In these cases, the sold car is swapped for a new one, and you will be required to submit a new prediction.
What happens when someone wins the jackpot?
The winner sails off into the sunset and then the Spool Pool resets. DipStakes will have set aside some of the money raised in each round so that the first jackpot after a win is still life changing.
Is there a cap to the prize pot?
No – and there never will be. The jackpot is there to be won (and ideally spent on your dream chariot of fire).
What will the value of the first jackpot be?
It estimated to be £10,000. If we can make it any bigger, we will.
Do I pay tax on Spool Pool winnings?
No, the winnings are tax free.
Does DipStakes donate money to good causes?
Yes! At the end of each year, DipStakes will donate a portion of its profits to good automotive causes. These can include charities, but they can also include car clubs, grassroots motoring events and educational programmes. Get in contact if you have a good cause you would like DipStakes to know about!
What happens if no one wins?
If no one wins, the pool keeps on spooling and the jackpot for the following month gets even bigger.
As DipStakes operates by pool betting (sometimes called “tote betting”) this means the more people playing, the bigger the pool. Of course, the bigger the pool, the bigger the jackpot. Use the links below to share the word about DipStakes.
